POSITION SUMMARY:

 

Under the supervision of the Director of Special Programs, the Student Interventionist will provide support to teachers with maintaining logs of strategies used to support student growth and change in patterns of behavior. Provides guidance on developing behavior and academic plans.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Adapts classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of the teacher for the purpose of providing an opportunity for all students to participate in classroom activities.
  • Assists in developing, implementing, modeling behavior for the purpose of meeting individual student needs and reinforcing learning activities.
  • Assists in the preparation and adaption of instructional materials, for the purpose of providing activities and materials that facilitate student learning and performance.
  • Assists in training staff, parents, and students in specialized instructional strategies and techniques being implemented for the purpose of sharing information and techniques used in behavior interventions
  • Implements and models alternative social skill development techniques for the purpose of assisting in achieving academic, social emotional and behavioral goals.
  • Maintain data-based documentation of continuous monitoring of student performance and progress during interventions.
  • Monitors student progress in identified areas for the purpose of recording appropriate data regarding academic and/or behavioral information.
  • Assists with data collection and assessments for behavior support services for the purpose of monitoring and reporting progress with identified goals.
  • Implement the MTSS model of increasingly intense student interventions and monitor student progress according to prescribed procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to develop intervention plans for students.
  • Travels to school sites as required for the purpose of performing services at varied sites.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors Degree
  • Preferred: Missouri State teacher certification
  • Minimum Two (2) years’ experience working with students who having challenging behaviors.
  • Knowledge of school operation and ability to relate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
  • Ability to adapt to a variety of situation and to remain calm under stress
  • Attendance and punctuality are important
  • Experience working with students with special needs preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • The majority of working hours will be spent in an office setting continuously interacting with staff and other stakeholders.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually at a moderate level with frequent interruptions.
  • Light physical activity such as walking, and standing is required on a daily basis
  • Occasionally, the employee may lift to 25 pounds to objects and files.
  • Some local travel to complete office errands and may be necessary to various District buildings and/or sites.
